SOLLY 'SOL' MOSETLE

Solly Mosetle, professionally known as Sol Stringer, was born in 1983 in Krugersdorp, west of Johannesburg. The sixth of seven children, Sol’s creative path was evident from an early age. As a child, he would pen lyrics to his favorite songs in a musical journal, which he carefully kept in a brown suitcase—an early testament to his dedication to the craft.

His high school years were formative, not only for discovering his talent in music but also for his love of ice hockey, earning him Gauteng Provincial colors. It was during this time that he became captivated by the rock sounds of Lenny Kravitz, Blink 182, and Aerosmith, inspiring him to study guitar at South West Gauteng College. There, he formed the band Malice, performing in venues such as Blues Room, Cool Runnings, and Roxys over a two-year period.

Following the disbandment of Malice, Sol joined a church band, where he was introduced to Durban-based DJs and session work for artists including Khuli Chana, DJ Zinhle, Danny K, Big Nuz, Mobi Dixon, and the late Lulu Diana. This period also led to his involvement with the ensemble Muzart, whose radio success included an official remix by the international group Spirit Chasers.

Sol later transitioned to a solo career, expanding his artistic expression to singing, songwriting, producing, and acting. His collaborations include industry names such as DJ Clock, Anati, The Muffinz, MNK, and DJ Rabs Vhafuwi. Notably, his single with DJ Clock featuring Ntu2ko received nationwide radio rotation and widespread music video airplay.

Beyond music, Sol has appeared in the local film “She Is King”, sharing the screen with Khanyi Mbau, Khabonina, Aubrey Pooe, Sophie Ndaba, and Hlomla Dandala. He is currently working on his neo-urban electric album “Stringing Out Loud”, with his second single “BELIEVE” recently released. Other projects include collaborations with close friends uFazinator and Cuban Shikargo, notably the track “Beautiful Mama”.

Sol Stringer’s artistry merges rock, neo-urban, and electronic influences, grounded in personal storytelling and a mastery of the guitar. His work embodies both performance energy and lyrical depth, bridging live performance, studio production, and cinematic expression.
