TD JOKES

TD Jokes is a dynamic and trail-blazing stand-up comedian and entertainer. Born in King Williams' Town in the Eastern Cape, Thembinkosi Dike’s upbringing was characterized by laughter as he grew up in a family that loves comedy. His funny streak became evident at a very tender age when even though he couldn't understand English at the time, he would burst out in laughter with his brothers as they watched funny sitcoms.
He studied Journalism at the Walter Sisulu University and cut his teeth into the media industry as a radio presenter at Link FM. It was this platform that exposed his many talents and positioned him not only as a comedian, but as an eloquent motivational speaker and a vibrant talk show host. His determination, discipline and dedication saw him being recognized as the Best Promising Presenter during the 2006 Link FM Awards Ceremony.
As his horizons broadened and his dream of becoming an entrepreneur grew, he left his home-town and moved to Johannesburg with the intention of seeking bigger opportunities, deepening his business acumen and to gain personal growth as a multi-talented creative person. It was during this period that a childhood friend and colleague approached him to do comedy at a gospel Hip-Hop show.

TD's ability to inject those around him with heavy doses of laughter saw him being given the title of 'Mr laugh and be healed' based on the premise that laughter is the best medicine and no matter how heavy one's spirit may be, when they laugh, they receive healing. His unique blend of refreshing, clean and awe-inspiring comedy is based on his Christian values and he believes that God has a great sense of humor.
When he took to the stage for the first time in February 2012, he didn't know that it was his date with destiny. For someone who had never done comedy before, TD's 20 minute set of clean comedy and entertainment exceeded expectations and brought the house down with laughter.
Since that day, his star is on the rise and he became the pride of his home province by being featured in the East London Fever publication as the first Christian comedian to represent Eastern Cape on the national scene. It was not long after that when Daily Sun profiled him with the headline "D Jokes is the Bishop of Humor." He also became a regular in the pages of Parable magazine since he was part of the publication's 'Lord Make Me Laugh Comedy Festival which was hosted all over the country, and has appeared on the Daily Dispatch several times.

His media appearances have been breathtaking having been interviewed on quite a number of radio stations and had his own comic spot feature on two Eastern Cape radio stations. He has also been interviewed on DSTV's One Gospel and Dumisa TV, and recently appeared on SABC 2's Ba Kae doing a comic tribute to a young kwaito legend Msawawa, and also did an appearance on Gospel Time with Rebecca Malope. TD's persistence and hard work finally paid off when he launched his 'Laugh and be Healed" comedy tour in August 2012, with his first three shows in Eastern Cape before touring around the country. His Laugh and be Healed tour continued in 2013 and saw him doing a show in Lesotho, becoming the first Christian comedian to do a show at the Mountain Kingdom
He's now a sought-after funny-man who's a firm favorite at gospel and corporate events, having performed at various events including James Okon's DVD recording as well as being Master of Ceremony at the C-Commerce Conference 2012 and 2013, and at the Government Information and Communication Systems department Women's function in 2013.
TD proved to the masses that he is not limited to Church audiences, but he is a comic that can stand on any platform and deliver what is required. This was evident when he did his first mainstream performance at "The Savanna Newcomer's Showcase" for the Comics Choice Award '13, performed at the Carnival Comedy Sessions hosted by Whacked Comedy along with Ndumiso Lindi, and has become a regular at the 99% Xhosa/Zulu Comedy.
His experience in the comedy scene, having stood in big platforms and traveled extensively became evident when he launched and hosted the first comedy nights in Central, Port Elizabeth, Comedy at Captains in 2015 which drew a great number of audience. In April 2016 he launched Athenaeum Comedy Nights and by far has hosted three successful sold out shows

The year 2014 brought about the SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards nomination for Best Gospel Comedy. Some of the highlights of his career include being: the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM) brand ambassador at the Indaba 2014 in Durban, and Cohost of the BCMM Turning On of the Lights in East London, an annual event welcoming the festive season. He is currently the host of 'IT'S ALL GREEK TO ME' on DStv's 1Gospel.
What makes TD Jokes unique and a rare commodity is his material which is derived from his childhood and current experiences to his hilarious outlook at church dynamics, and life in general. He is one of South Africa's handful of comedians whose material is the cleanest. The rave reviews he's receiving prove that he's a breath of fresh air to the masses.
