Tinyiko Maluri, a Mixed Media Artist, was born in 1980 in Bungeni, Limpopo Province, South Africa. His artistic journey began at the tender age of 10, evolving into a lifelong passion. In 2014, he embarked on the Fine Art and Print Making course at Artist Proof Studio, where he further honed his skills. Graduating as a Master Printer in 2016, he subsequently served as a drawing facilitator intern for a year.
Employing charcoal, pastels, and acrylic paint, Maluri creates intricately detailed pieces that often reflect his personal journey of overcoming adversity and the associated struggles. His art serves as a medium to connect with others facing similar challenges, offering hope and understanding.
Maluri's work has been showcased in various exhibitions, including the aim2givmor Exhibition in Pretoria city, a Solo Show at the Next Chapter in Sandton City, Naps ta Entertainment, the Department of Sports, Art and Culture Africa Day Celebration, Limpopo Maphungundzwe Art Exhibition, as well as group exhibitions at Artist Proof Studio, Keyes Art Mile. Noteworthy among his participations are two artistry group exhibitions titled “Instusa Yobomi” and “Harmony in Diversity”.
Currently, Tinyiko Maluri dedicates himself fully to his art, operating as a Professional Full-Time Artist based in Johannesburg. He finds inspiration and solace in his studio space at OOVOOKOO, a newly established building near Eloff Street. Through his art, Maluri continues to weave narratives that resonate with audiences, fostering connection and empathy within the community.
