The Girls Are Alright brings together the work of women artists in celebration of their achievements and the ways they continue to claim space, make their presence felt, and fully embrace their creative power. This exhibition is rooted in the pride of women who are showing up for themselves and one another, occupying spaces that have historically excluded them, and doing so on their own terms.

Across every industry, discipline, and community, women continue to build remarkable lives in the face of extraordinary challenges. We create, lead, nurture, question, innovate, and imagine futures that once seemed out of reach. Yet this exhibition is not interested in celebrating women solely through narratives of strength or survival. Instead, it makes room for softness, vulnerability, joy, tenderness, and the fullness of womanhood.

Rather than asking women to justify their existence through stories of suffering, The Girls Are Alright asks a different question: Who are women when they are free to define themselves? What becomes possible when women are celebrated not for enduring hardship, but simply for existing, creating, dreaming, and taking up space?

The artists in this exhibition offer diverse perspectives, lived experiences, and artistic languages. Whether expressed through quiet reflection or bold ambition, each work speaks to a commitment to practice, voice, and vision. Together, these works form a collective portrait of women who have chosen to believe in themselves, trust their instincts, and affirm the value of what they create.

Curated by Naledi Modupi, Abongile Matintela, and Kenako Madalitso Simelane, The Girls Are Alright is itself an act of women creating space for women. It is a celebration of community, collaboration, and the transformative power of women championing one another. It reminds us that our greatest strength lies not only in individual achievement, but also in our willingness to uplift, amplify, and build alongside one another.

The girls are alright not because the struggle is over, but because, despite everything, we continue to choose ourselves. We continue to create. We continue to take up space. We continue to imagine new possibilities. And in doing so, we remind the world and ourselves that we have always belonged here.
