Breath Of Belonging Exhibition

11 May 2026

OOVOOKOO Gallery presents Breath of Belonging is an exhibition about the preservation of nature and humanity’s deep connection to the natural world. The exhibition explores the idea that humans are not separate from nature but are part of it. Every breath we take, every drop of water we drink, and every source of life we depend on comes directly from the earth. Nature provides us with clean air, water, trees, grass, and ecosystems that sustain all living beings, yet modern society continues to exploit and destroy these very resources.

The exhibition reflects on how people have become disconnected from nature through industrialization, pollution, and the constant desire to create something “better” or more advanced than the natural world. In trying to control and reshape the environment, humanity often forgets that without nature, human life cannot survive. Forests are cut down, rivers are polluted, and the air becomes contaminated, even though these elements are essential for our existence.

Through visual artworks, mixed media, sculptures, and sensory experiences, Breath of Belonging encourages viewers to reconnect with the environment and recognize nature as part of their identity rather than something separate from them. The exhibition invites reflection on the consequences of environmental destruction while also inspiring responsibility, care, and preservation for the natural world. It emphasizes that protecting nature is ultimately protecting us, because human life and nature are inseparable.

The invited artists will approach these ideas from different perspectives, using their practices to explore memory, environmental destruction, healing, coexistence, and renewal. Some works mourn the loss of natural spaces, and the damage caused by human intervention, while others celebrate the resilience, beauty, and restorative power of the earth. Sculptures and installations may incorporate organic or recycled materials, while sensory experiences engage audiences through sound, texture, scent, and immersive environments that reconnect the body to the rhythms of nature.
