Bright Ntuli (b. 1997, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa) is a self-taught mixed-media visual artist whose practice centers on portraiture as a means of exploring identity, essence, and the forces that shape individuals.
Ntuli’s formative years in the vibrant township of France, Pietermaritzburg, deeply informed his artistic sensibilities, while his subsequent time in Durban (2018–2019) further enriched his perspective. In 2020, he relocated to Johannesburg to pursue greater opportunities and share his vision with a broader audience.
His work is inspired by the spectrum of human experiences, capturing both the subtle intricacies of ordinary faces and paying homage to cultural icons such as Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan, and Michael Jackson. Through his portraits, Ntuli invites viewers to reflect on the complexities of identity, shared humanity, and the narratives that shape our lives.
Although Ntuli has yet to participate in solo or group exhibitions, his dedication to his craft continues to fuel his aspiration to establish a meaningful presence within the contemporary art world.
